Description
The squadron, consisting of Lord Macartney's vessel 'Lion', the 'Hindostan' and the 'Jackal' brig, sailed 21 September 1792, and arrived at the mouth of the Pei-ho 5 August 1793. The Journal continues the description of the voyage in junks up the river to Beijing, the reception of the embassy, and their proceedings to 26 November 1793, on which day Alexander re-embarked on board the 'Hindostan', being joined by Lord Macartney in the 'Lion' 8 January 1794. The Thames was reached 10 September 1794.
